Appointed to Roar
July 5, 2018
Thus says the Lord, “I have appointed you as my spokesman, to roar in my name. Today is the day that the fury of my indignation is spilling out and over my wayward church. I needed a Jeremiah; I needed a Martin Luther; I needed a Martin Luther King; and I need you, Peter, to walk in their footsteps.”
Jeremiah 1—The Living Bible
4. The Lord said to me, 5. “I knew you before you were formed within your mother’s womb; before you were born I sanctified you and appointed you as my spokesman to the world.”
6. “O Lord God,” I said, “I can’t do that! I’m far too young! I’m only a youth!”
7. “Don’t say that,” he replied, “for you will go wherever I send you and speak whatever I tell you to. 8. And don’t be afraid of the people, for I, the Lord, will be with you and see you through.”
9. Then he touched my mouth and said, “See, I have put my words in your mouth! 10. Today your work begins, to warn the nations and the kingdoms of the world. In accord with my words spoken through your mouth I will tear down some and destroy them, and plant others, nurture them, and make them strong and great.”
11. Then the Lord said to me, “Look, Jeremiah! What do you see?”
And I replied, “I see a whip made from the branch of an almond tree.”
12. And the Lord replied, “That’s right, and it means that I will surely carry out my threats of punishment.”
13 Then the Lord asked me, “What do you see now?”
And I replied, “I see a pot of boiling water, tipping southward, spilling over Judah.”
14. “Yes,” he said, “for terror from the north will boil out upon all the people of this land. 15. I am calling the armies of the

kingdoms of the north to come to Jerusalem and set their thrones at the gates of the city and all along its walls, and in all the other cities of Judah. 16.This is the way I will punish my people for deserting me and for worshiping other gods—yes, idols they themselves have made! 17. Get up and dress and go out and tell them whatever I tell you to say. Don’t be afraid of them, or else I will make a fool of you in front of them. 18. For see, today I have made you impervious to their attacks. They cannot harm you. You are strong like a fortified city that cannot be captured, like an iron pillar and heavy gates of brass. All the kings of Judah, its officers, priests, and people will not be able to prevail against you. 19. They will try, but they will fail. For I am with you,” says the Lord. “I will deliver you.”

Jeremiah complained that he was too young for the task; but he bowed low and did what he was told. Martin Luther, 500 years ago, bowed low. He did what he was told. He stirred the pot and took the church behind the woodshed. The church did not like it and tried to silence him. Martin Luther King did what he was told. He bowed low. It cost him his life. And this Peter, an old man, is bowing low and will do what he is told.
The Lord placed a large wooden spoon into Peter’s hands and said, “Stir the pot so that my Church will wake up and not burn. Take my Church behind the woodshed and spank the hell out of it. I love my Church. It is my love that compels me to chasten it. It is love that compelled me to send my only Son into the world that whoever believes in Him shall not perish.”
Yes, Peter has already tasted the hatred of those that posture themselves as belonging to “God’s only church.” But God has prepared him and showed him what is ahead. He will bow low. God’s voice, not some man-made derivative of the church shall speak through him. Jesus fortified him with these words from the Book of Isaiah, “NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST YOU, PETER, SHALL PROSPER AND YOU SHALL HAVE JUSTICE AGAINST EVERY COURTROOM LIE. THIS IS THE HERITAGE OF THE SERVANTS OF THE LORD. THIS IS THE BLESSING I HAVE GIVEN YOU, SAYS THE LORD.”
Read these incriminating words carefully and then ask yourself. “Am I going to stand with Peter? Am I going to silence Peter; or am I going to ignore Peter?”

A priest writes:
Peter in Pagosa may mean well, but the text on his "holy card" is a mixed bag when it comes to truth and confusion. He seems to deny the Trinity when he says that Jesus is the name of his one and only God. Jesus is the head of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church, but Peter professes no confidence in the teaching authority Jesus exercises through his Church. He seems to consider the church a mere man-made institution. Jesus is married to his Church. What God has joined, let no human being put asunder.
By living apart from the Church Jesus founded, Peter becomes vulnerable to the same pride and weakness that Martin Luther as a pawn of Satan unleashed on the church. Luther's mistake has led to more than 30,000 different interpretations of the Bible and to more than 30,000 divisions within Christianity. This divisiveness is a scandal that hinders the mission to make disciples of all nations.
Enough said. I counsel you to steer clear of Peter's "personal mixed bag" version of Christianity.

God spoke to Peter’s heart like he spoke to Jeremiah. He showed him what to write, what to say, what to do and when. The time is now, even today. Today Peter is throwing the holy fire of God’s indignation into a wayward church and hedonistic world. Any church, any religious or political institution that postures itself as the only correct and acceptable way to go, that scoffs at “The Ten Commandments,” that accommodates sin, shall taste the fury of God’s indignation. If it does not allow itself to be reproved, if it does not trash its idols, if it does not repent, if it does not cleanse its temples, it shall be no more.
Today, the Pharaohs of Egypt are no more. They are only alive as vague memories because of history books. Today, instead of pyramids, we have built grandiose edifices reminiscent of the Tower of Babel, cities of sin, presidential libraries, halls of fame, and tourist attractions that honor man and men with feet of clay, not the Creator, not the Crucified One, not the Resurrected one, not the King kings, not the Lord of lords.

Only after the temples are cleansed, and we are those temples, only then will the Book of Acts once again become a present reality. It is written that every person, every religious, political and entertainment superstar and economic empire past, present and future shall bow low to God’s only begotten Son — Jesus, the Christ. No ego-driven person, institution or empire is exempt.
The Lord is no longer beating around the bush. He is shaking the bush with the fury of His indignation!
