At first I couldn’t think of a button or trigger. But of course we all have them. Up popped an irritant, and that is, I hate being interrupted. I find it very irritating when someone interrupts me in the middle of a story, or when I see someone interrupting another person. Why is so irritating to me? I remember a time when my family was visiting an uncle and aunt for a few days and the subject came up. We were all sitting around the kitchen table enjoying a meal, laughing and talking. My mother pointed out that every time she or her brother started to tell a story, my dad and aunt would interrupt their spouse and take over the story.
My uncle was a preacher and this was in the 60’s. He brought in a small tape recorder and laid it in the middle of the table to record their conversation. After a while he played it back, and sure enough my dad or aunt would interrupt and not allow their spouse to have the floor in telling a story. I suppose it made a life long impression on me.

As far as a button being a trigger….well I have so many it is hard to describe! When I see a person being put down or belittled due to a cognitive or another physical or mental disability my buttons pop up and spring into action! I feel the Holy Spirit rise up like a protective Mother Bear, and I will defend them immediately. I love to make people feel accepted, and to give HOPE to them, through the message of our Loving Savior Jesus Christ.

I too have a button or two that just a few know how to push. My main button may be a bit unique though. My late roommate (he passed away May 4th of this year) was a very spiritual person believing in many things and he taught me many things but that two passages in the Bible state 'Whenever two or more gather in my name, I am in their presence' referring to Jesus and the second passage which I live by 'The Kingdom of God is within you'. In his teachings to me and getting me on the path I've needed all my life, these two are my mantras. I pray for others and not myself (God knows my needs before I do) and I believe there is a greater glory awaiting me when I pass from this life. As my roommate got closer to his death, he began to fear dying feeling that there was no afterlife and no heaven to go to. That is my big button. I would get into heated discussions with him teaching him back what he taught me and reminding him of a couple of confirmations of messages from the other side that proved to me that there are those that passed ahead of us that will be there awaiting our arrival. Since his passing, many of our mutual friends wish for my healing but do not believe he went anywhere, that this is it. Push that button friends again. What helps me reset my button and return to normal? The unshakable belief that there IS a heaven and God and Jesus will welcome me based on what I have done here on earth to be rewarded with that blessing. I try to treat all who come across my path including those that push that button as equals. Now instead of getting into discussions with them, I silently pray for them that they too find Jesus and God and establish the peace offered us here with that knowledge we are heading to that place where peace is guaranteed, heaven. I believe that is where my late roommate is and feel at peace knowing I did as much for him to help him reach his last days in comfort and peace.

Come hell or high water this salmon is going to swim upstream and reach it's spawning ground or die trying.
Our high calling is to be like one of those salmons. With the help of God and by the grace of God, we shall return to our spawning grounds or die trying. Demolishing the dams of religious traditions, laws and man-made conventions may take a while; but what Jesus started two-thousand years ago, we must finish. By faith I call it "finished".
Dams that block salmons from returning to their spawning grounds are being breached and demolished. It takes what I call, "spiritual bulldozers" to accomplish this. It's an inspiration for this writer when this happens.
But at the same time political engineers vote for new and higher dams to be built. Shame on you and all the lobbyists you listen to. If you would allow Native Americans to vote, many dams would never have been built in the first place. Far too often we have robbed Peter to pay Paul. We have defined "progress" as: "The good for the many justifies what we do." Where is that in the Bible?
Our laws, traditions, religions and worldly wisdom must not dam up our freedom and imprison our unique God-given personalities. No one must ever be accused again of speaking gibberish when praying in tongues. Whoever does, pushes my button. Such a pronouncement can drive a person to the brink of insanity. Shame on all who have done so in the past. May the Holy Ghost fall upon them and convict their hard hearts for teaching such hideous error. May God open their eyes and hearts and repentance follow.
By God's grace I am not only a survivor but a crusader, a finisher and an advocate for those who have no voice. I have been prolific in venting my anguish, my tears and my anger. I do not believe the tears and the anguish are mine alone, but come from my Father's heart. I am certain my anguish and tears are mirrored in others!
Join me in destroying every religious tradition, law and man-made convention that hedges in our God-given personalities. It's time to redefine the word "FREEDOM".
I hope I have pushed someone's button.
